What is MEXT?
Formerly known as Monbusho Scholarship, MEXT is the scholarship program offered by Japanese government to countries which have diplomatic relations with the Japanese government.
Please note that applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, so that those who need an early decision should apply before 28 February 2013. All those who need to look for financial support from potential donor organizations are strongly encouraged to abide by this deadline and apply before 28 February 2013. This will provide sufficient time to secure funding and furnish necessary guarantees for the autumn 2013 enrollment.
The scholarships and assistantships available from UNU-ISP are very limited. Only highly qualified candidates from developing countries who can demonstrate the need for financial assistance will be considered for UNU-ISP financial support.
Admission Requirements
Applicants for the Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace are required to have met the following requirements by the application deadline in order to be considered:
Must be between the ages of 23-32 at the time of submitting his/her application.
Must have obtained or be on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree with a Baccalaureate from an accredited college/university, or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 rating system, or its equivalent.
Must be matriculated at an accredited university for the upcoming academic year starting August/September 2013, and must maintain full-time status for the duration of the Master’s Degree.
Must be a national of a developing country (except OFID Member Countries)
Must select a subject of study that pertains to OFID’s core mission, such as: economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other related science and technology fields.
Applicants MUST submit the following documents (all non-English materials must be accompanied by an English translation):
• A completed program application form (application forms can be downloaded);
• A curriculum vitae or resume;
• A nominating letter from the organization where the applicant is employed, supporting the candidate’s application to the program and indicating how the applicant’s participation in the PILnet Fellowship would benefit the organization/institution;
• Two recommendation letters from individuals familiar with the candidate’s professional abilities. At least one recommendation letter must come from an individual outside of the nominating organization;
For the scholarship programme 1 of KAAD you can apply if you:
come from a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America
have a university degree and professional experience from your home country
want to acquire a master’s degree or a PhD at a German university or do a post-doctoral research project (2-6 months for established university lecturers) at a German university
are a Catholic Christian (or general belong to a Christian denomination). Candidates from other religions can apply if they are proposed by Catholic partners and can prove their commitment to interreligious dialogue
possess German language skills before starting the studies (KAAD can provide a language course of max. 6 months in Germany).
Nationals of SEAMEO member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam) may apply for the scholarship. Applications may be submitted to any one of the following Ministries of the applicant’s own country:

Eligibility
To apply for a JJ/WBGSP scholarship under the Regular Program, an applicant must:
Be a national of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow.
Be born after March 31, 1973.
Have, by March 31, 2013, at least 2, preferably 4 to 5, years of recent full time professional experience acquired after a university degree, in the applicant’s home country or in another developing country.
